Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m Li Hua, a middle school student from China. I’m writing to apply for the post of volunteer.
I believe I would be the right person for the position. For one thing, I once studied English in Britain as an exchange student for two years, so I have no difficulty in communicating with others in English. For another thing, I have learned some basic knowledge about garbage sorting via the Internet. And I’ve been taking an active part in activities of garbage sorting in my community. So it would be easy for me to pass on relevant information to foreign students.
I would be very grateful if you could offer me the opportunity. I am looking forward to your early reply.
① I am writing to tell you that I’m suitable for the job you are advertising.
②In the first place, I have strong written and spoken communication skills. What’s more, I am well acquainted with the western culture. Last but not the least, I have good personality, and I am independent in life.
③ I will be very grateful if you can give me the opportunity.

Our school produces a lot of rubbish every day, such as leftover food, waste paper and plastic bottles, which brings a wide range of environmental problems as well as the waste of resources. Therefore, it’s time we took immediate action to change the situation.
First of all, it is necessary for us to raise awareness of environmental protection and develop the good habit of garbage sorting. What’s more, we should voluntarily differentiate recyclable rubbish from non-recyclables in our daily life.
In a word, if everyone does his / her bit responsibly in garbage sorting, our school will become better and better.

I’m very glad to tell you something about the trash-sorting program promoted recently in China. As far as I know, Shanghai has become the pioneer of our country’s waste sorting policy.
Since July 1st last year, the residents in Shanghai have been required to classify domestic waste into four categories: dry refuse, wet trash, recyclable waste and hazardous waste. Beijing has joined Shanghai in trash sorting recently.
Although some citizens find it complicated to classify waste at first, there are more people who warmly support the policy because it helps people to cultivate greener lifestyle habits and helps China to become a more beautiful country.
Looking forward to your reply.
① In my personal opinion, I maintain that it is vital for our citizens to support garbage classification and strictly abide by the classification system.
② With these measures taken, our society would be more harmonious, and we, as individuals, embrace more promising future.
